October 1:

Can you believe it's October 1st already???? I think it's time for some fall crafts.... I am looking for recommendations for Halloween treats and things.

I feel inspired to be crafty this weekend.... Here are the potential options for what I am going to be up to this weekened:

1. Creating Fall/Halloween treats
2. Painting ... my kitchen walls are empty, I think I need to spruce them up
3. sewing :) maybe another apron or two;)

all of this will be done while watching College football! I have to say, this is my favorite time of year!

Stay tuned for pics from the weekend!

have a great weekend!

Ace of Cakes

Ace of Cakes? I think not, but I really enjoyed icing and decorating this red velvet nutella cake with cream cheese frosting! The cake was made with love (not technique or pure skill) for a baby shower. Perfect or not, I had a fabulous time making it in my miniature kitchen:)

I think next time I will attempt to decorate with fondant... I am up for the challenge! By the way, the cake recipe came from my friend Amy and it got rave reviews!! Thanks, Ames! Also, check out Clara Jane's Confections to see the real Ace of Cakes, cupcakes and cookies!!
What could go better with a baby shower cake??? Baby Shower burp cloths! That's right, I sewed straight lines:) Check out my designs below!!!

Until next time!

Love,

Katie

Ta Da!

Here she is..... the Kelly apron

This is the final apron for now.... Don't fall over but I think I need to get back to work:) I am moving in the next couple of weeks, so the sewing machine has been packed away.

Not exactly sure what the next Adventure of a Gibbs Girl is, but I do know it includes a new apartment, a new job, learning to refinish furniture (see pics below) and life in the big city! Looking forward to sharing my latest and greatest stories and crafts!

Have a great week!

xoxo,

Katie

HGTV... who needs 'em

A couple of years ago I promised my Tante Chris (Tante is Dutch for Aunt) that I would redo her yard. I FINALLY DID IT!!!!!

So, I've spent the last two Saturdays pulling weeds and transforming Tante's plain patio into a gorgeous garden! Take a look at some of the photos below. I wish I had pictures of the hard space before to show you the enormous weeds!

I can't imagine how much work goes into each show on HGTV for the full backyard/home transformation. The only thing missing now is a BBQ to complete the outdoor experience.
Now to find an apartment in SF that has the perfect patio in need of a face lift! Who knows what project I will take on next:)
Love,
Katie

Newest Edition

I promised that I would post the latest edition of my aproning... so here it is!

This is the Alexis apron

I really based the whole style around this button. It is possible to be obsessed with buttons. I am! Stay tuned for the Kelly apron (NOTE: this might be the last apron I sew prior to coming out of retirement, although, I keep saying that and somehow I keep finding new things to sew!).

I have two more in the works, the Kelly and the Alexis, and can't wait to share them. Hopefully I will make time when I am working again to keep up my apron-making! I better:)
